Denver Instrument, founded at the height of the legendary Colorado gold rush of 1880, is one of the oldest, continuous manufacturers of analytical balances in the world. English immigrant and watchmaker, William Ainsworth, recognized the opportunity for a U.S. manufacturer and entered the market with innovative analytical balance designs. Around 1895, Ainsworth introduced the company's first short-beam analytical which significantly reduced weighing time and improved reliability. The short-beam design was also one of the first commercial uses for aluminum.
In 1975, the company was reorganized as Denver Instrument and new products were developed to meet the needs of the dynamic scientific research industry. Today, our product lines include:
| • Analytical Balances |
• Precision Toploading Balances |
• Industrial Floor Scales |
| • pH, Ion & Conductivity Meters |
• Moisture Analyzers |
• Automatic Titrators |
| • Calibration Masses |
• Weight Recertification Services |
• Balance Repair |
| • Balance Accessories |
• Electrodes |
• pH Buffers |
Just as the company began its 2nd century in business, its American traditions of quality and value were melded with precision German technology when Denver Instrument was acquired by the Sartorius Group, in 1999. For the scientific research community, this means high-quality, precision laboratory instruments, that are eminently reliable and affordable!
