Monday, April 24, 2006 - tour of Ace Glass Ace
Glass hosted part of the ILDA (Independent Laboratory Dealers Assoc.) Spring meeting. About 30 members, equaling 15 of the small independent distributors from around the U.S. came down from Philadelphia to see the actual production of laboratory glassware here at Ace. These are all the Owners and Presidents of the small distributors. Several of the associate members (manufacturers, which we are one of), also attended. We toured several functional areas; lathe, lamp, cutting and tooling areas. Even though some of the attendees have been in the lab business for many years, this is the first time they had a chance to actually see glassware made. They were very impressed and in many ways even awed by the operations. Many people think that lab glass is made by machines and they are surprised how much work goes into making a piece of specialty labware. All of the comments and letters, and e-mails Ace received were very appreciative and mentioned how impressed they were. The good news is it’s already resulting in new business for Ace Glass.
